About Cape Ann

Cape Ann Hockey School was founded in 1979 by Bob Driscoll. Cape Ann was created on the basis that “Motivation is the key to learning” and run by educators who utilize positive motivation as their basic principle. As professional teachers, we realize that patience, tolerance, and a sense of humor are essential ingredients for a harmonious learning environment. Children do not learn under stress. They will learn while having fun at Cape Ann Hockey School!

Bob Driscoll (deceased) was the Head Coach at Masconomet High School (33 years). Bob held a BA (St. Dunstan’s University, Canada), M.Ed (Salem State University). He won CAL Coach of the Year (3x) and is a member of the Massachusetts High School Hall of Fame (Inducted 2008). Bob and his wife Sally ran Cape Ann Hockey School together since 1979.

Dan Driscoll, a native of Lynn, MA, grew up attending Cape Ann Hockey School. He is currently the Athletic Director and Head Varsity Boys Hockey Coach at Berkshire School (12 years) where he has coached the team to 3 New England titles. Dan formerly worked at the Pomfret School as Director of Admission and Head Varsity Boys Hockey Coach (5 years), Winchendon School as Director of Admission, Athletic Director, and Head Varsity Boys Hockey Coach (5 years). He has a BA from the University of Connecticut, where he played Division I Hockey. He coached the Division II Hockey New England Champions (1997, 1999). He won New England Prep School Coach of the Year (1997, 1999, 2007, 2013). He has placed numerous players at all collegiate levels, and have had some players continue onto the NHL, such as Kevan Miller currently on the Boston Bruins. He also runs The Berkshire Hockey School in western Massachusetts.
